In collaboration with the UNDP, ACTED carried out a survey and impact assessment of COVID-19 on MSMEs in Kyrgyzstan. Results have been drastic, be it:
- 72% of all MSMEs, including the tourism sector, indicated they lost all income in the two months following the lockdown;
- 52% of MSMEs in the tourism sector had to send (part) of their staff on unpaid leave;
- 65% of MSME’s with outstanding loans in the tourism sector stated that they would not be able to make their scheduled loan repayments, risking a possible default on their outstanding loans. This percentage was even higher (72%) for woman-led MSMEs.
